LEGAL NOTICE
Public Comment Period Regarding Regional Workforce Development Plan

On May 1, 2017, the Workforce Boards of Southwest, South Central, and Northwestern Oklahoma will be submitting a four-year Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Western Oklahoma Regional Plan for the period July 1, 2017 – June 30, 2021 to the Governor’s Council for Workforce and Economic Development.  A 30 day public comment period is required and will officially begin March 30, 2017. 

The Western Oklahoma Planning Region is comprised of thirty-three counties: Alfalfa, Beaver, Beckham, Blaine, Caddo, Cimarron, Comanche, Cotton, Custer, Dewey, Ellis, Garfield, Grady, Grant, Greer, Harmon, Harper, Jackson, Jefferson, Kay, Kingfisher, Kiowa, Major, McClain, Noble, Payne, Roger Mills, Stephens, Texas, Tillman, Washita, Woods, and Woodward.

The nature of the WIOA program is to provide assistance to individuals who are seeking employment or necessary training for employment so that businesses can obtain a well trained workforce.  Funds are allocated local areas from the Oklahoma Office of Workforce Development, the state WIOA Administrative Entity.
